A rescue helicopter located two trampers along the coast on Wednesday morning on the coast of Wellington.
Police say a man, 60, and a boy, 10, set off from Makara Beach on the way to Owhiro Bay about 11.30am on Tuesday.
Police say a rescue helicopter was sent out soon after a call to the police about 9.50pm.
The helicopter spotted them about 12.30am on Thursday. Police say the pair are in good health.
