New figures show the crisis in youth unemployment is easing.
After reaching a peak of 15.4% in the December 2009 quarter, Statistics New Zealand says the numbers are now back at pre-crisis levels.
Falls in both the June and September quarters have brought the level back to 12.3%.
The decrease in unemployment is biggest in the 15 - 19 years age group.
But 19 - 24 year olds remain outside the system, with 16% not in employment nor in training.
