Fire safety officers are investigating a fire at a high school in Rotorua which they believe may have been deliberately lit.
A Fire Service spokesperson says a security guard on patrol at Western Heights High School on Old Quarry Road noticed the fire in a kiln room just before 9pm on Tuesday.
The spokesperson says the kiln's vents were blocked and it overheated, causing paint cans around the room to explode.
He says it is not clear how much damage has been caused.
