Tuesday's headlines: first car to be crushed under boy racer legislation; emergency services missed the body of a man killed in a car crash; Air NZ understood to considering hundreds of job cuts early next year.

The New Zealand Herald reports that emergency services missed the body of a man killed in a car crash - only for him to be discovered 45 minutes later by a Bay of Plenty school bus driver, after police left the scene.

The Black Caps are pictured celebrating their historic win against Australia in Hobart. It's the first time New Zealand has beaten Australia in a Test in Australia since 1985.

Waikato Times

The Waikato Times shows a man being handcuffed by police officers after an hour-long crime spree. It's alleged he stole two vehicles, rammed a police car, snatched a woman's purse, assaulted an innocent person and tried to evade police on Monday afternoon.

In the race for the Labour leadership, the paper says David Cunliffe may be pinning his hopes on pressure from electorates, while David Shearer may already have the numbers in the bag.

Dominion Post

The Dominion Post says Air New Zealand is understood to considering hundreds of job losses early next year. It says the airline is looking to slash tens of millions of dollars in costs in a difficult year ahead.

The paper also pictures builder Duncan Mckee, who will finally graduate on Tuesday with his law degree, 39 years since he started it at Victoria University.

The Press

The Press reports that tattooist Matthew McEachen died fleeing from an earthquake-damaged building he should never have been allowed to work in. It says evidence presented to the Royal Commission on Monday, revealed a litany of mistakes and miscommunications which allowed Southern Ink to remain in the dangerous building.

More than 140 employees at the Medlab South laboratory in Christchurch were made redundant on Monday.

The Otago Daily Times reports that motorists will again be driving along John Wilson Ocean Dr next year, after emotional arguments and pleas to compromise at a Dunedin City Council meeting won the day - by a single vote.
