Train commuters on the Wellington - Kapiti line were delayed on Monday morning after a signal failure.
KiwiRail says the fault has been fixed, but there are still delays of between eight and 26 minutes while trains return to schedule.
A text system, which was supposed to alert commuters to the delay also failed.
It is unclear why the system did not work, but KiwiRail would be in touch with the company the service was contracted to.
