Blaze destroys Frankton food storage warehouse

9:21 am on 22 October 2011

A fire has completely burnt a food storage warehouse in an industrial area in Frankton, near Hamilton.

The fire service says about 36 officers attended the fire on King Street just before 5am on Saturday.

No-one was at the scene when officers arrived.

The building, which was used for food storage, was completely ablaze and has been completely burnt out. The roof has collapsed.

The Hamilton Workingmens' Club is next to the warehouse but fire service Waikato area commander Roy Breeze says a wall built of fire-proof materials saved it from damage.
