Police in Dunedin have made three more arrests of rival gang members in connection with a shooting at the weekend.

The local Black Power president, Albert Epere, was arrested on Tuesday on his release from Dunedin hospital where he was treated for arm wounds.

Mr Epere was shot in a confrontation with Mongrel Mob members in Pine Hill on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Chris Henderson says two other people have been arrested in the last 24 hours, and he expects more arrests to follow.

The police are still searching for a 19-year-old, Dylan Hill, who they describe as dangerous.

Detective Sergeant Henderson says six people are in custody and four are expected to reappear in the Dunedin District Court on Thursday.
