A company that wants to expand gold and silver mining in Waihi, in Hauraki District, will be presented with a draft policy from concerned residents on what they think should happen.
Two community meetings about the proposed expansion were held in Waihi on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the group Distressed Residents Action Team, Collette Spalding, says major concerns include noise, dust and blasting vibrations, as well as damage to property and an inability to sell.
She says the draft policy would allow for property purchase as a worst case scenario, and seek compensation or money for repairs or improvements to properties in areas where market value could be affected.
The ideas will be put to the company, Newmont Waihi Gold, on Friday.
