Telecom says bad weather was not the cause of problems for mobile data and broadband services on Monday afternoon.
Telecom says a technical issue may have caused connection problems for some customers from Auckland to Akaroa from about 12.30pm
It says mobile data and SMS services were intermittently affected, as was broadband connection.
Telecom says services are now restored or are returning to normal.
Any customers still experiencing connectivity issues should try restarting their handsets or modems.
