The family of a kayaker missing in Wellington harbour since Wednesday have issued a message of thanks to everyone who has helped in the search for him.
Cameron Millar, 19, of Hamilton had been kayaking toward Ward Island with his partner from Lower Hutt when both were tipped into the water.
His partner made it ashore and raised the alarm just after 6pm.
The police dive squad and the navy, using sonar equipment, continued the search on Sunday.
In a statement, the teenager's parents, Ross and Jo Millar, say they also want to thank their family and their son's friends for their support.
On Sunday, naval officers with sonar equipment joined the search efforts, alongside the Police National Dive Squad and the Wellington Police Maritime Unit.
A spokesperson says the sonar equipment was used for several hours, but found nothing.
The search will continue on Monday, with the navy again assisting.
