A Rugby World Cup opening party on Auckland's waterfront will include a huge fireworks display.
The Finn Brothers and Dave Dobbin are among acts that will entertain the crowds, and a pyrotechnic display will end the night.
Auckland mayor Len Brown says he expects tens of thousands of party-goers to attend the opening show on 9 September.
He says the event will complement the formal opening ceremony at Eden Park.
Concerns have been raised about the availability of information for visitors about how to get around the city, and confusion about the location of the fan zone in South Auckland.
However Mr Brown says a lot of planning has gone into the tournament and he is confident information about transport to and from games, and fan zones, will be easily accessible.
"There will be no slip-ups," he said. We are absolutely ready. I know our nation's pride and our city's pride is on the line."
The Rugby World Cup runs from 9 September to 23 October.
