Anglican bishop to retire

6:32 am on 30 July 2011

The Anglican Bishop of Wellington is to retire in March next year.

Dr Tom Brown, who is 68, will by then have completed 14 years as Diocesan Bishop of Wellington, and 21 years as an ordained bishop.

Archbishop David Moxon says the bishop is known as a man of great professionalism and progressive vision.

He says Dr Brown was a pivotal force in fundraising for the Queensland floods, the Christchurch earthquake and developing education facilities in Tanzania.
