A logging truck crash closed the Napier-Taupo highway for several hours on Tuesday.
The crash on State Highway 5 at Ellis Wallace Road, 25 kilometres from Napier, was reported at 3.50am on Tuesday. The driver was taken to hospital.
Logs spilled from the truck and blocked the road and a nearby railway line. A KiwiRail crew was to check for damage to the line.
Inspector Ken Climo says backlogs of traffic that formed near the site of the crash were cleared before midday.
