Police are refusing to comment on the futures of two officers convicted for assaulting a teenager.
One of the officers, Constable Alan Douglas, has already signalled through his lawyer he may appeal his conviction.
At the Auckland District Court on Monday, Constable Gareth Needham was convicted and discharged on two counts of assaulting a teenager in December.
Needham's co-accused, Constable Alan Douglas, was convicted of one count of assault and fined $600.
Douglas's lawyer, Todd Simmonds, says his client is considering appealing.
Police will not comment on whether the men will remain with the force due to the possibility of appeals.
In an earlier and unrelated matter, Gareth Needham helped look for a missing Auckland toddler Aisling Symes and admitted during an inquest into her death that he had made an error of judgement by not reporting a displaced manhole cover.
