A lobby group wants a review of part of a report on teenage social problems headed by the Prime Minister's chief science advisor.
The report, issued last week, found opinions were mixed on whether restorative justice was a successful treatment for antisocial behaviour.
But Rethinking Crime & Punishment director Kim Workman says the report ignored recent research that showed restorative justice led to a 27% drop in reoffending.
Mr Workman says the report gives the misleading impression that restorative justice is ineffective.
He says overall the report is excellent and it is a shame one sentence might be misinterpreted.
