A New Zealander who was working on a yacht during his OE has died in the French Mediterranean resort town Antibes.
Posts on the social networking site Facebook say Brendon Pyle, who was from Warkworth, had been declared clinically brain dead in an Antibes hospital before his life support was switched off.
A friend says Mr Pyle had had a few drinks and rode a wheelie bin down some stairs.
The friend says it's the sort of thing Mr Pyle would normally do, but he'd usually walk away with a big grin.
Mr Pyle's sister Amy says a memorial service will be held in Nice and a funeral in Warkworth at a later date.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it has offered the family assistance.
