Police investigating a suspicious death near Rotorua say the body found in a burning car is likely to be removed from the scene on Sunday.
The fire service says its crews arrived at the scene, which was a forestry area off Tumunui Road, at about 9.30am on Saturday.
The car had no number plates.
The officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Loper, says a scene examination by police and forensic scientists is underway.
He says the body will be taken to Auckland where a post-mortem will be conducted on Monday.
