Family of slain Feilding farmer asks for privacy

4:10 pm on 10 April 2011

The family of slain Feilding farmer Scott Guy has asked for privacy, after a relative was charged with murder.

Mr Guy's brother-in-law, Ewen Macdonald, 30, was arrested on Thursday and charged with murdering Mr Guy, 31, in Feilding on 8 July last year.

He was remanded in custody after appearing in court in Palmerston North on Friday.

In a statement released through the police, Mr Guy's family say they "wish to have some privacy to get on with family life, to support one another and allow the legal process to take its course".

The Guy family say they will be making no further media comment for the foreseeable future.

Police search for evidence

Police investigating killing of Mr Guy have spent the last three days searching rural Feilding for evidence.

In the last few days, a police dive squad has been searching creeks in Feilding.

The searches stopped on Sunday, but police say the investigation is still open and there could be more.
