A car carrying three German women has crashed on the West Coast, killing a 27-year-old passenger.
The accident happened in Bruce Bay on Tuesday when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree.
The 18-year-old driver and another passenger, aged 25, are in hospital.
Constable Paul Gurney, of Franz Joseph, says their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
He understands the trio has been in New Zealand since November last year on temporary working visas.
Police are trying to contact the passenger's next-of-kin in Germany.
