Armed police in Tauranga arrested a man who brandished an air rifle at partygoers on Sunday morning.
Police say the man, 23, unemployed, had been at a party when he became involved in a fight about a missing wallet.
He left the party and returned with an air rifle, which was not fired.
Senior Sergeant Glenn Saunders says the man has been charged with presenting a firearm and possession of a firearm without lawful purpose.
He will appear in the Tauranga District Court on Friday.
