Wellington Airport is still considering a sign saying Wellywood for a hillside plot even though the mayor hopes it will not be chosen.
The airport was granted a resource consent last year to display a feature on a site it owns by the airport in Miramar.
A spokesperson for Wellington Airport says the final choice will come from a list of 10 options including the signs; Wellywood, Middle Earth and Frodo's Land.
Mayor Celia Wade-Brown says she hopes the Wellywood sign will not be chosen and the site left as it is.
The council says it understands the decision is with the airport since it has the resource consent.
