Man used tractor to clear fatal crash scene

Police are warning people not to interfere with crash scenes after a bystander used a tractor to clear debris at the site of a fatal collision in Waikato.

The acting road policing manager, Senior Sergeant Jeff Penno, says serious crash unit staff are still working to find the cause of the crash between two vehicles at Piarere during the weekend.

Two people were killed and four others were flown to Waikato Hospital with injuries.

Mr Penno says the man who cleared the scene thought he was doing the right thing, but people shouldn't follow suit, as interference can hinder police investigations.

Police need crash scenes left undisturbed so they can complete an accurate investigation to honour the deceased, he says.
