Ship protestors due in court

Five members of Greenpeace who were arrested after boarding a ship transporting palm kernel, will appear in the Taranaki District Court on Monday.

They tied themselves to the vessel's anchor chain and locked themselves inside crane houses on Saturday.

Greenpeace wants an end to the use of palm kernel, which it claims is linked to deforestation and peatland destruction.

Agriculture Minister David Carter has described the incident as irresponsible and over the top.
