Hundreds of people throughout the country are taking a challenge to go alcohol free for a month in the name of health and charity.
Febfast is being held by the Drug Foundation for the first time after a successful run in Australia during the past four years.
Along with everyday people, MPs and well known television and radio personalities are taking part in the event which requires not drinking alcohol for the month of February.
Febfast coordinator, Catherine Milburn, says the Australian experience has shown people often adopt new attitudes to drinking following a dry month.
Several youth charity organisations will benefit from the event that has so-far raised $12,719 on-line.
