A baby fur seal attacked in West Auckland has had to be put down.
[image:1099:third:right]The seal was being treated at Auckland Zoo this week but the Department of Conservation says its injuries were too severe.
Two men are accused of beating the seal pup with boat oars in Henderson Creek on Monday.
DoC is investigating and says it will take appropriate action when the inquiry is completed.
