A prisoner who escaped from police in Christchurch on Monday has been sighted in the central city.
William Steven Cooper, 19, was due in court on robbery and firearms charges, when he escaped by impersonating another prisoner.
Police believe Cooper may have been staying at a New Brighton address and are now actively searching the Moorhouse Avenue area.
He is considered dangerous and should not be approached.
