Members of the gay community are angry at McDonald's after the company blocked access to many gay and lesbian related news and information websites in some of its outlets.

McDonald's began offering free wireless internet in 145 outlets in December.

In addition to banning gambling, tobacco and sex websites, it has also blocked many gay and lesbian related sites, saying it's a family restaurant.

The sites include the Rainbow Youth website. Executive director Tom Hamilton says he's surprised by the decision and will be talking with the company.

In a statement, McDonald's says it's prepared to review sites that have been blocked on a case by case basis.
