Ryder, Styris picked up in IPL auction

New Zealand cricketers Jesse Ryder and Scott Styris have been picked up on the second day of the Indian Premier League player auction.

Styris went to the Chennai Super Kings for $US200,000, while the Pune Warriors bought Jesse Ryder's hitting power for $US500,000.

Five New Zealand players were purchased on the opening day of the auction. Ross Taylor was the highest earner, going to the Rajasthan Royals for $US1 million.

The Twenty20 competition involving eight franchises begins in April.
