CTU says protests will get louder and larger in 2011

The Council of Trade Unions says the protests triggered by Government changes to employment law during 2010 will get larger and louder in 2011.

It says growth in unemployment, stalled wages, reductions in rights and the rise in GST have made it a tough year for workers.

The council says it has spent the year trying to make the Government understand working people are deserving of its interest.

But CTU president Helen Kelly says the Government has turned its back on working people.

Ms Kelly says the CTU campaign against the changes to employment law will continue into 2011, even after April when the changes take effect.

She is warning of more big rallies and industrial action.
