Don't leave children or pets in locked cars - AA

The Automobile Association is urging people not to leave children or pets in locked cars.

In the year to the end of November, the AA attended more than 1500 emergency callouts to rescue children and pets from locked vehicles.

The AA says 914 of these involved children and 660 involved pets.

It says the number is very concerning as the temperature inside a vehicle with no ventilation can rise rapidly and children and pets can quickly suffer the effects of heat exhaustion.
