Anxiety over impact of falling school rolls

A proposal by the Ministry of Education to reduce the number of schools in south Dunedin is causing anxiety among some parents.

Enrolment numbers have been falling, prompting the ministry to propose changes including making some schools merge, close or expand to include years seven and eight.

Caversham Primary School is one of six schools that could face change at the end of next year.

Principal Mike Darracott says there is concern the Government will not consider what the community wants.
