Abduction report sparks AOS callout

5:52 am on 19 December 2010

Eight people in Auckland are being questioned by the police after the Armed Offenders Squad was called to a possible abduction attempt.

Police say they were told at 5pm on Saturday that two people had been taken from a city address against their will.

Enquiries established the involvement of a second property in Grey Lynn, and the Armed Offenders was sent to a property in Bond Street at about 9.30pm.

Police say six people from that address are being spoken to. They have also located the two people who sparked the initial call out and are questioning them.

Police say the situation is complicated and confused and it will be some time before charges, if any, will be laid.
