Two men died in the early hours of Saturday after their cars hit power poles, in separate crashes in the North Island.
Police say the first crash happened on Waitakere road in West Auckland just before 1.30am on Saturday, when a car went off the road, bringing down power lines.
A man died at the scene.
Electricity has been restored to the area.
A second man was killed when the car he was driving crashed near the town of Kaingaroa in the Far North just before 2.30am on State Highway 10.
Police believe he lost control of his car on a bend.
