Primary teachers and principals accept pay deal

4:02 pm on 16 December 2010

Primary school teachers and principals have accepted the pay deal negotiated by their union in November.

The settlement runs for two years and includes a 2.75% pay rise and a one-off payment of $300.

The New Zealand Educational Institute union says more than 90% of its members voted in favour of the deal.

News of the ratification comes as primary and intermediate schools close for the year.

Negotiations over the secondary teachers' collective agreement remain stalled.
