A man is facing firearms charges following an argument over posting inappropriate pictures of his former girlfriend on the social networking site Facebook.
Samuel Smith, 22, is alleged to have pointed a shotgun at the 17-year-old girl's father and his associate after they confronted him about the pictures.
In Christchurch District Court on Thursday, Mr Smith's lawyer described the two men as skinheads and said her client was worried by their unannounced visit.
Judge Brian Callaghan told Mr Smith that, given he has 33 previous charges, he is likely to jail without a drastic change.
Mr Smith was remanded on bail without plea until later in December.
