Wellington City Council is considering putting permanent barriers along the new inner-city bus route, after three pedestrians were hit while crossing the road last week.
Until recently, part of the Manners St route was a pedestrian-only mall.
The council and local bus companies have set up a taskforce to improve safety along the route.
Yellow tape has been used as a temporary deterrant to jaywalking, and permanent barriers are a possibility.
The taskforce will also review traffic lights on the route and consider whether more safety advertising is needed.
