Police are worried about a South Korean tourist missing in the Franz Josef area on the South Island's West Coast.

A rental vehicle in the Franz Josef Glacier carpark has not moved since about Thursday last week.

It is parked in the main glacier carpark, which has foot access to the glacier valley and numerous bush walks.

The missing man is Ergine Cho, 31, from the South Korean town of Incheon.

He had been in New Zealand for two weeks and was travelling alone.
