The Registered Master Builders Federation says a slump in the construction sector is a worry.
Building consents for new houses fell for the fourth consecutive month in October.
Non-residential consents also fell in October, after three months of gains.
The federation says the sector should be concerned.
But chief executive Warwick Quinn says there is some light on the horizon for the sector, with all the post-quake work in Canterbury and the Government's weathertight funding package kicking in next year.
