Adams to change coaches again

4:36 pm on 23 November 2010

New Zealand world and Olympic shot put champion Valerie Adams is set to change coaches in the next few weeks.

Adams has been under the guidance of Frenchman Didier Poppe this year, but spent some time with Swiss Jean-Pierre Egger while in Europe and preferred his methods.

Adams changed her technique under Poppe and spent most of the season finishing second to rival Nadzeya Ostapchuk of Belorussia.

However, after working with former world champion Werner Gunthor and Jean-Pierre Egger, Adams beat Ostapchuk at a season-ending event in Croatia.

Adams's manager, Nick Cowan, says she wants to remain based in New Zealand, rather than Europe, and due to the brief time she spent with Egger she now wants a change.
