Public vigilance leads to arrest of burglars

2:45 pm on 13 November 2010

Police in Lower Hutt are thanking a member of the public whose vigilance led to the arrest of two burglars in a house in the suburb of Kelson.

Officers surrounded the address after receiving a report of suspicious behaviour there.

They say that once the two men inside knew they were surrounded, they threatened police with weapons they had with them and pot plants belonging to the house.

Both surrendered when a police dog entered the house.

Two men aged 23 and 27 were to appear in the Lower Hutt District Court charged with aggravated burglary.
