Pub licence suspended after house attack

3:50 pm on 5 November 2010

The hotel where Navy sailors had been drinking before an attack on a house in Nelson has been censured by police.

Two men from the patrol boat HMNZS Taupo broke windows and tried to force open the front door of the home on 26 October.

The sailors had been drinking at the Ocean Lodge hotel.

Nelson Police Licensing Sergeant Mike Fitzsimons says the hotel's licence has been suspended for 24 hours and the duty manager suspended for three weeks.

He says licencees are accountable for the consequences of their patrons' intoxication.
