Mercep takes up Morning Report presenter job

9:01 am on 3 November 2010

Journalist Simon Mercep has been appointed co-presenter of Radio New Zealand's Morning Report, filling the vacancy left by Sean Plunket.

Mercep has spent the past three years with the TVNZ current affairs programme Sunday. He previously worked for eight years as an investigative reporter with Fair Go.

He began his career with Radio New Zealand in 1983 and subsequently worked for public service broadcasters in Australia, Canada and Britain.

Radio New Zealand's head of news, Don Rood, says the job attracted a large and impressive field of applicants.

Mercep will take up the job in January.
