The Council of Trade Unions says Actors' Equity wants to make sure any agreement over new terms and conditions for performers will be honoured.

The actors' union has agreed to negotiate with the Screen Production and Development Association or SPADA which is the body that represents production companies.

Representatives of the CTU and the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union met with Actors' Equity members in Auckland on Sunday.

In the wake of the dispute over The Hobbit, the actors' union agreed to meet SPADA to discuss new employment terms and conditions for performers.

CTU president, Helen Kelly, says the meeting discussed changes to the industry's Pink Book, which sets out terms and conditions for performers.

Ms Kelly says as well as the content of the Pink Book, actors want to discuss ways to make sure their agreements are honoured.
