Police were warning motorists to avoid a stretch of State Highway One in Bay of Plenty on Saturday, due to a four-kilometre long diesel spill.
They said the road north of Tokoroa was reduced to one lane in places and drivers should be extremely careful.
Roading contractors were called to clear the spill.
