Thursday's headlines: public service managers being asked to swear under oath that they have not leaked official documents; payment of $90,000 for being sacked after asking for time off at Christmas; mother of Kahui twins was haunted by a ghost after their deaths.

NZ Herald

The New Zealand Herald leads with the story that James Webster, an Auckland teenager who died from alcohol poisoning, had asked that no pictures be taken of him at the party he was drinking at the night he died.

Also on the front page there's a copy of an email that Television New Zealand communications boss Andi Brotherston sent to her colleagues at TVNZ.

The email reveals she offered to resign for a news release she sent supporting Paul Henry's comments about the Governor General.

Dominion Post

The Dominion Post leads with the story that hundreds of public service managers have been asked to swear under oath that they have not leaked official documents. The investigation was started after information about the Government's mining plans and the merging of some of its departments were made public.

Under a picture of a tearful Macsyna King, the paper reports the mother of the Kahui twins was haunted by a ghost on the days following their deaths.

The Press

The Press reports that a woman who had been working at a restaurant for eight years, has been given a pay-out of $90,000, after being threatened for asking for time off at Christmas and later sacked.

There's also a picture of the Waihopai spy base and the news that the Government wants to sue the three men who damaged it.

ODT

The Otago Daily Times reports that Queenstown businesses could lose out during the Rugby World Cup if fast-tracked liquor licences are given to party organisers from outside the town.

A house ablaze in the suburb of Waverley is pictured, with a crowd of people taking in the spectacle as it burned.
