A date has been set for the Mana by-election: Saturday 20 November.
The by-election was sparked by the imminent departure of the sitting Labour MP, Winnie Laban.
The two major parties have already selected their candidates. Labour leader Phil Goff's former chief press secretary, Kris Faafoi, will contest the seat for Labour, while National has chosen list MP Hekia Parata.
