Former Aussie coach buys Eden Park goalposts

The goalposts that have stood at Eden Park since 1960 have been sold to former Australian rugby coach Bob Dwyer.

Dwyer, who coached the Australian side that won the 1991 Rugby World Cup, paid $15,050 for the posts in a charity auction on Trade Me.

The Eden Park Trust's chief executive, David Kennedy, says Dwyer runs a rugby academy in Australia, "so maybe he wants to teach the Australians to kick like a Kiwi or something."

Mr Kennedy says the two sets of posts weigh about 700 kilograms each.

All proceeds from the sale go towards the Canterbury Earthquake Relief Fund.
