Engineers are inspecting a plane owned by Air New Zealand subsidiary Air Nelson after its nose wheel collapsed on landing at Blenheim.
No one was injured during the incident on Thursday and the Bombardier Q300 remains on the runway.
Air New Zealand says the plane was originally bound for Nelson but was diverted due to poor weather. Alternative transport was arranged for the 46 passengers.
Meanwhile, Air New Zealand is downplaying links made to several similar incidents by Bombardier-made aircraft in the United States
The airline says the American incidents involved a different type of plane and are unrelated.
