A 51-year-old man has admitted murdering Raymond Piper, whose body was found on the Kapiti Coast on Sunday.

Ainsley Brent Anderson had been charged with being a party to the killing of Mr Piper, but when he appeared in the Porirua District Court on Tuesday he pleaded guilty to murder.

He was remanded to appear in the High Court in November for sentencing.

His son Louie Anderson, 17, had also been charged with being a party to the murder. A court spokesperson says he will reappear in Porirua District Court on Wednesday, when that charge will be withdrawn.

Two others are charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Piper. They are due to be called in the same court on Wednesday but it is understood they will not appear.

Raymond Piper went missing in May. Police told the court that it was Anderson who led them to his remains, which were found in bush in the Maungakotukutuku Valley, near Paraparaumu.
