The New Zealand Rugby Union and police are appealing for the return of a rare 100-year-old rugby jersey stolen during the Maori rugby centenary celebrations in June.
The jersey, which belonged to New Zealand Maori hooker David Small, was worn on the team's 1910 tour of Australia.
The Small family had loaned it to the New Zealand Maori team for their three-match centenary series earlier this year.
Coach Jamie Joseph says the jersey is a treasure and it's distressing that someone has stolen it; and NZRU chief executive Steve Tew says it's a unique piece of history.
The jersey was stolen from the Energy Events Centre in Rotorua during a celebration on 18 June. The NZRU alerted police that day and made an official complaint at the end of August after failing to locate the jersey.
It is asking anyone with information to come forward.
The jersey, which is black with a red centre band and a gold fern, is in a fragile condition.
